A custom stair runner can be a design focal point of your home for decades. To achieve that longevity, you’ll need to take care of your carpet. From product selection to cleaning, here are four quick tips to get your started.
Stairs take the most punishment of any part of your house. To get many years out of your stair carpet, you'll want to keep a couple of things in mind.
First, if you have cats, try to avoid having berber or loop construction for your stair carpet. Cats love to scratch and pull at the loops!
Second, because it's the part of your house with the most traffic, take off your shoes. Third, if you're going to vacuum, avoid using a beater bar with woven, loop carpet—it might tear the loops.(Keep in mind, beater bars are fine if you have tufted loops or a cut pile carpet.)
Finally, just like with any other carpet in your house, it's important to give it a professional cleaning at least once per year. That will help restore the fiber, texture and the appearance.
Follow these steps to add to the longevity of your stair carpet. If you have any questions about stair carpet selection or maintenance, give us a call at 401-214-0285 or visit our showroom.
