Ken's Quick Answer:

Some people love the smell of new books, new cars and new carpets. Others have a more sensitive ‘schnozz’ and want the smell to go away as soon as possible. Have no fear: It will dissipate soon enough and you can always open your windows to expedite the process.

Ken's In-Depth Answer:

You don't have to worry about carpet off-gassing. You can take your masks off. Many new household items off-gas including carpet, furniture and paint. You don't have to worry about it and you certainly don't have to wear masks or respirators.

A lot of times, carpet will smell right after we install it. This applies not only to synthetic carpet but many wool carpets too.

Open the windows kitchen

It's just like that new car smell. Some people might enjoy it and some people might hate it. But one thing for sure: It goes away.

What should you do if you really don't like that new carpet smell? If you can, open the windows. Maybe for a day or so.

Obviously, if it's freezing cold weather, this might be difficult. But, to the extent that you can, you want to use your ventilation to dispel that smell. Pretty soon it will be gone.

Enjoy your new carpet smell, because it won't be there for long. If you have any concerns about off-gassing or are looking for all-natural carpet products, give us a call at 401-214-0285 or visit our showroom.
