Don’t get stuck due to a small delay. We implore you to add a “Murphy’s Day” in between when your general contractor says he’ll be done and your flooring install. Then, add a second Murphy’s Day after your flooring is finished and before furniture move in. You may thank yourself later!
I'm going to tell you the honest truth about flooring retailers (like myself) and general contractors. If your contractor tells you that he's going to be ready at the end of next month for flooring, 20%-30% of the time, it's not going to happen. Why is that?
It's very hard to be precise about when contractor jobs are going to be finished. They have more trades to worry about when I do, and chances are, something is going to go wrong somewhere.
When the contractor is all done and I go in, I'm going to estimate how many days I think the job will take. But sometimes, things happen.
If you observe Murphy's Law, and add one day in between both ends, I think you're going to avoid a lot of trouble.
